ipconfig /flush dns

By Adjusting DNS Settings

This is a straightforward method. Just follow the steps mentioned below, and you would be good to go.

  • First right click on the Network icon on your PC and select Open Network and Sharing Centre.                                                                                                                                                 DNS Settings

  • Now click on Use The Following DNS Server Addresses and put the following values:

Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

Finally, check the box next to Validate Settings Upon Exit and click on OK.

By Re-starting Your Router

Now, this is my solution to every problem. Whenever I face any technical problem, whether it is on my phone or laptop, I just switch it off and then switch it on. You can give it a try. Just press the power button on your Wi-Fi router and after a few seconds switch it back on. Now just open Google Chrome and check if you can browse the sites, you were previously not being able to. If yes, then your problem is solved.

By Disabling Windows Firewall

Another source of this DNS_Probe_Finished_Bad_Configuration Error is your Windows Firewall settings. It is possible that your Firewall setting is done in such a way that certain websites would be blocked automatically. If that is the case then you can change your Firewall settings in the following way:

  • Go to Windows key or Start menu and click on Control Panel.

  • Now turn off Windows Firewall and restart your system. Check if you can enter the websites, which you were not being able to earlier. If yes, then it is clear that Windows Firewall was the root of all your problems.

Sometimes an upgrade in your anti-virus can also result in DNS_Probe_Finished_Bad_Configuration Error. In that case, too you’ll have to change the settings and re-connect internet again.
